Parkview is located next to the North Saskatchewan River Valley in the west section of the City. Bounded to the north by the MacKenzie Ravine – the east by the North Saskatchewan River valley, the west by 149 Street, and on the south by 87 Avenue and Buena Vista Road. It is both an affluent and affordable neighborhood, home to 3,300 residents.
Most of Parkview developed in the mid-to-late 1950s and almost all homes are single-detached, there is only one small apartment-style building located in the centre of the neighbourhood is adjacent to the Valleyview Shopping Centre. The Shopping Centre is uniquely located on 142 Street, in the heart of the neighborhood.
Residents enjoy excellent access to Whitemud Drive for destinations on the south side, including: the University of Alberta, Old Strathcona, Whyte Avenue and Fort Edmonton Park. Also close to Stony Plain Road west to commercial or east 15 mins to downtown core. Straight west along 87 Avenue takes residents to West Edmonton Mall or east to Edmonton’s Valley Zoo, a family oriented petting zoo, is located in the river valley to the south east of Parkview with access to Laurier Park and Buena Vista Park.
Both parks are part of the city’s river valley park system. A footbridge, and trails located in the river valley to the east of the neighbourhood provides access to Hawrelak Park on the south side.
