Windermere is a new neighborhood with a little history; it was once part of Strathcona County that included 80 estate residences. This early development started in the sixties. The land was then annexed to the City of Edmonton, in 1982. Starting in 2006, with careful planning from city council, a new neighborhood began and development is still underway.
The plan for the Windermere neighborhood includes a range of housing types, densities and designs is the concept planned for Windermere. Upon completion, there will also be a mixed-use commercial centre designed as a neighbourhood focal point, and a collection of parks, walkways and institutional facilities which will be integrated with the residential development. Windermere is a family oriented neighborhood with easy access to Anthony Henday.
